Hiding
Hiding
- Take the Hide action to attempt to conceal yourself
- Make a Dexterity (Stealth) check
- This result is compared against the passive Perception of any creature that might notice you
- A creature actively searching makes a Wisdom (Perception) check against your roll instead
- You need to be practically able to hide yourself, e.g. lightly obscured, or heavily obscured
- You can't hide from a creature that can see you clearly
Staying Hidden
- You remain hidden until you are discovered, or until you reveal yourself
- You are discovered if
- A creature's Perception beats your Stealth check (actively or passively)
- You come out of cover or obscurement
Attacking While Hidden
- Attacking from hiding reveals your location regardless of whether you hit
- You have advantage on the attack roll if the target can't see you
- Attacks against you have disadvantage if the creature can guess your location
- If the creature incorrectly guesses your location, the attack automatically misses
